Fourth Ray Beauty – review

Press Sample

But who are they? You might ask… heard of a little company called ColourPop Cosmetics? Well, Fourth Ray Beauty is the skincare sister, under mama’s “Seed Beauty” umbrella. This is Laura Nelson and Allison De Guia’s baby project and it’s an exciting one to see come to fruition.

They wanted to release skincare that didn’t break the bank whilst staying cruelty free and using vegan ingredients. The result was a nicely sleek no fuss packaging with products that do what they say they do without gimmicks. Everything is reasonably priced and I’ve finally gotten to test this so my thoughts are below. I also copied a glossary of terms for the skincare noob which will be available at the end of this post.

The prices

We are reviewing the ritual PR box but it’s currently not available for purchase, however three things: 1. the individual items are mostly available 2. There’s a $54 bundle that has the main products you want to try now! AND 3. we are giving three boxes away!! Stay tuned on our instas for the official post for this awesome giveaway which will be happening THIS WEEK.

Please note that for the future and for the giveaways as well, the sage bundle will be replaced by a lavender bundle.

Let’s get into the products shall we!?

This bundle below is currently available for $54.

BFD cleansing oil $14.

Instantly lifts and removes traces of makeup, dirt and pollution revealing healthy, clean skin. Formulated with Camellia, Juniper Berry, and Meadowfoam Seed oil providing skin with nutrient-rich antioxidants. BFD easily washes away surface debris without stripping natural moisture – leaving skin soft and cleansed!

Thoughts: it took away Makeup even waterproof, it doesn’t leave skin oily so you still need to use a moisturizer after if you are dry skinned. Great for any type of skin as I’m super sensitive and this was excellent to remove even the most staining eyeshadows. You apply it in top of your makeuped face and scrub gently, then add water and make a mess. It’s ok, it’ll all come off.

AM TO THE PM – $12 gel cleanser

The ultimate daily face wash. Developed to gently and effectively dissolve and wash away dirt and makeup without over drying or stripping the skin of natural hydration. A complex of natural botanicals leave the skin clean, comfortable, and fresh.

Thoughts: I found it to be a great second step to the oil, to completely remove it all st the end of the day or on its own in the morning. Apply, foam it up with some water and then rinse away.

KEEP CLEAR TONIC $10

A concentrated, non-drying toner that clarifies and balances the skin. A blend of ingredients provide strong antioxidant and exfoliation properties resulting in a calm, clear complexion.

Thoughts: it was ok, I used it a few times after cleansing my face and it removed the last remnants of any oil I might’ve left behind. Great as a last step from cleanse before you start your moisturizer regime.

THE LIGHTWEIGHT hydrator $12

Provides oil-free, refreshing hydration for healthy, balanced skin. The Lightweight is a fluid formula containing naturally derived Squalane. It absorbs quickly without the greasy residue, leaving skin soft, smooth, and makeup ready. Developed without dyes, harsh chemicals or fragrances that can cause irritation and breakouts.

Thoughts: this was nice and felt supple if I was going to use it under primer and under makeup; But it is not moisturizing enough for my sensitive/dry skin To use on its own. This would be great for a younger skin that doesn’t have an oil and balms addictions (I have gotten mine used to oils and the sort and now it takes nothing but).

LATER HATER – Spot treatment $12

An overnight spot treatment formulated with soothing ingredients to help reduce breakouts. This two-phase pink solution targets spots with a highly effective blend of Salicylic Acid, Sulfur, and Calamine. Later Hater provides relief without leaving your skin itchy, flaky or irritated. Apply directly onto spots before bedtime to help dry up impurities while you sleep.

Thoughts: interesting enough, you’re recommended to NOT shake the product and use it while it’s settled. Dip a qtip all the way to the bottom and apply as a spot treatment for breakouts. I tested it on a pesky pimple I got and within 2 hours it had it matured, and no longer red. It does paint your face light pink so remember to wash it off in the morning. It didn’t completely eradicate my pimple but made it “ready” and that was so tempting for me!!! Why must we pick our faces!!!! So of course, I picked it and irritated it and ruined my whole testing scenario cause now I had an irritated angry skin to deal with. It certainly calmed skin but it wasn’t a magic solution that killed the pimple overnight either.

The set also comes with several other accessories such as the cleansing cloths $6.

These are thin muslin clothes to help clean your face. They are also WHITE which meant they were filthy the moment they came in contact with me. Since I’m always swatching things, I use paper towels to cleanse my arms (with micellar water) and funny enough: I never dry my face but apply moisturizer with my face wet. And I NEVER use a washrag on my face. I feel that although the exfoliating possibilities are tempting, I’ve suffered from sensitivity enough to not want to risk a red face. These are gentle. They do the work and are washable, but I’m going to be honest, I prob wont reuse them after this testing. I saved one for the dragon to use when we are out since she fancy and all.

ROSE QUARTZ ROLLER $18

Made from real rose quartz, this facial roller is an essential tool to any skincare routine. A gentle massage with this roller will help cool and soothe puffiness, improve blood circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, improve skin elasticity, and relieve facial tension.
DO: Put me in the fridge or dip me in ice cold water before use!
DON’T: Put me in the freezer- roller will become very fragile and can break.

Thoughts: I run it under cold water and use it after I’ve applied all my night routine, emphasizing on my eye sockets, between my brows and forehead. I find it soothing and depuffing and it relieves stress and tension. I have been combining this with the Laneige eye mask and it has done great results for my undereye circles and puffiness. I got the hubs into it too lols! Funny how he used to criticize the amount of crap I put on my face and now asks me for “do the rolley thingy on my face babe with the eye stuff…”. Men are vain. They just don’t know about it until they see changes when using things.

It certainly is cheaper than the alternatives I’ve seen online and does the trick.

SCRUNCHIES $6

A set of 3 satin covered scrunchies.

They are meant for you to tie your hair back so it doesn’t get wet when doing skincare routines. Being that they are quite large, they don’t get all tangled up but they are not a must if you already use a clip. Plus they are very Cher from Clueless. Which is not a bad thing either lol, I love kitschy stuff like this and I’m using them.

WHITE CAT / BLACK CAT headbands $6

They are to be used to keep your hair back and away from getting wet. I frankly appreciate these more being that I always end up ruining the front of my blowout when washing my hair, which results in curly roots on my front. ANNOYING. These help but I thought you could prob find something comparable for less $, they didn’t fee sturdy or thick.

The other items on the PR box aren’t available for sale:

A candle and matches, a bath bomb, and a sage bundle.

I used the candle at home and it’s a nice addition to a spa like experience box, I still haven’t used the bath bomb.

I personally like to smudge my home, I’m Latina and grew up believing in this as part of my culture, to cleanse myself and my surroundings from negative vibes and spirits. I was surprised to see it as part of a skincare set but I liked it since I didn’t have to buy my own sage this month lols. I’m being informed for the giveaways and the future, they are replacing the bundle with lavender. I heard some people complaining the sage bundle was appropriating, I don’t agree nor I feel offended. I actually think it’s cool people are starting to expand their beliefs and I feel anything that people can do to bring more light to their life and remove hatred and negativism is right by me.

Last but not least, there are crystals here! Laura Nelson is into them, I know Jordynn Wynn Is also and it’s very west coast to be into the whole crystal movement.

I know NOTHING about it. So if you know that to do, please comment and let me know as I’m def willing to try and test these out!

Have you tried any of their products!?
