Makeup Geek Pumpkin Spice Palette Version 2: Review, Swatches and Discount Code

Makeup Geek Pumpkin Spice Palette ($35)

The first version of this palette sold out in a matter of days. They restocked it this week but they made a few changes. Since I already reviewed the first version (here), I’m just going to quickly go over the changes. But I do want to remind you that we have an affiliate code with MUG now. It’s BEAUTYCULT and it will save you 10% site wide.

Change #1- they swapped out Cherry Cola for Bitten. Bitten is lighter and more red than Cherry Cola.

Change #2- Cocoa Bear was replaced with Sidekick. Sidekick is more red and a shade or two lighter.

Change #3- Roulette was replaced by Cosmopolitan. Roulette is a pinky copper and Cosmopolitan is a pinky gold.

All three changes are very subtle and make very little difference to the color story. Why did they do it then? I’m not sure. I’ve heard that they’re going to be discontinuing a bunch of shades or maybe those were three of the ones that will be getting the boot? Your guess is as good as mine. I actually like the second version better than the original though. I think that $35 ($31.50 with the code) is an excellent price and I definitely recommend picking this baby up if you don’t already own these shades!

  1. I did get the email from MUG saying that version #2 was available for purchase and I was like WTF? I purchased the Pumpkin Spice palette and then within days they made changes? I found it really annoying because the eye shadow palette junkie in me wants them all (yeah, I have issues). I talked myself down and now after reading your review and seeing the great swatches that you did, it doesn’t look like the differences warrant purchasing #2 since I have #1 (right?)…
