Huda Beauty Obsessions Palette in Mauve ($27)
Tada! We have swatches! Top pic is indoor lighting, bottom is outside. Also it’s effing freezing in PA right now so I’ve got goosebumps, not a skin disease. Last winter someone asked if the product I swatched gave me an allergic reaction. Nope. Just cold.

These palettes are really small but the eyeshadows are full sized (.05oz each) so I think $27 is a good price, especially with the 20% off. These palettes are made China as opposed to her other palettes which are made in Italy. Animal testing is only required for cosmetics sold in China, not produced there. To the best of my knowledge, Huda Beauty is cruelty free brand with the exception of their mink lashes. Unlike her other palettes, these contain talc. I have no issues with talc but I know that some of y’all don’t like it.

The eyeshadows are soft but not overly powdery and they have decent pigmentation. They’re not the most pigmented eyeshadows that I’ve ever used but they build and blend nicely. The shimmers apply well with a brush but you’ll get more intense color pay off with your fingertip or by using them wet. Overall it’s a user friendly palette.

I like the color scheme and the matte to shimmer ratio, although it doesn’t exactly scream ‘mauve’ to me. I also like how compact it is. Perfect for travel. Even though it’s definitely dupeable, I like all of the colors and how they work together. It’s a nice little palette and I don’t regret getting it but I also don’t feel the need to run out and buy the other three. I’d recommend it if you like the colors and you’re looking for a small palette to keep in your purse or for travel. But with all these new releases, I think you could safely pass without regret. But I’ve heard lots of rave reviews and I’m a grumpy old troll so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

  1. I’ve been buying the “dupes” palettes that Bad Habit Beauty makes and sells on shophush.com or even easier to get, their app “shophush” which is available on the app store and Google play. I researched them online first (YouTube), of course, and have seen nothing but great reviews. I have a lot of them and they’re really gorgeous (and cruelty-free) and depending on which palette you want, they run from $10 – $16 each. Not bad!!

  2. I love your blog so much. I bought this palette also, but ended up returning it because the shimmers were not quite bright enough for what I was wanting to suit my super fair complexion. But now I am regretting it because I absolutely adored that rusty shade in the middle row all the way to the right. Any chance you know of any dupes?

  3. I agree, these are not screaming “Mauve” to me either!! But still pretty. I don’t own anything Huda. I actually thought her products were not cruelty-free but thanks for clearing that up. I’ve purchased so many eyeshadow singles this weekend from Devinah & Looxi, as well as palettes from Violet Voss, Bad Habit & Juvia’s Place, I’m probably going to get into trouble when the mail man comes around, so I can’t get too excited over anymore palettes for awhile – except the new one that Juvia’s dropped when I wasn’t looking! Thanks for the great review and swatches.
