PLAY! BY SEPHORA ‘THE ALL-STAR EDITION’ REVIEW

Sephora recently started doing a new version of Play! that features all high end products. It’s double the price of their regular box at $20 and it’s not a subscription so you have to order it each time that one becomes available. I think that this is second bag but I might be wrong. Em reviewed the first one they came out with The iconic edition back in June and I ordered this one at the end of August. I ended up canceling the monthly Sephora Play after one awful box too many. I saw the full spoilers for this box before ordering (But I think it’s sold out now) so I might starting buying the high-end version provided I’ve seen the spoilers and it’s stuff that I’d use. Alright! Let’s get to the good stuff…

It came in a black box and included a holographic silver bag and cards detailing the products.

And the products!

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer ($8.50)- I’ve purchased this primer before and I like it a lot especially during hot weather. It blurs pores and fine lines while controlling shine. The only thing that I don’t like about this sample is that it has a wand instead of a pump.

AmorePacific Moisture Bound Rejuvenating Creme ($24)- this is an insanely expensive moisturizer! The full sized version is $150 for 1.7 oz. I love the packaging with the mirrored lid and it’s a great moisturizer. I’m loving this sample but not enough to spend $150 on a large jar.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence ($13)- My brother’s partner does PR for SK-II so he hooks me when I get to see them (which isn’t often because they live in Australia). You use this product after cleansing. It moisturizes and supports skin cell renewal. I just finished up a big bottle of this essence and I like it a lot but again not enough to repurchase at $100 a bottle. I’ll just cross my fingers and hope that Alan and Brock come home for Christmas this year and they bring me skincare gifts.

Tom Ford Lip Color in Indian Rose ($16)- I love the packaging and it’s a pretty mauvey red. However it’s quite sheer. I don’t own any Tom Ford lippies and I certainly would spend $50 to repurchase this one. But I’ll use and enjoy the sample.

DIORSHOW Mascara in Black ($4.50)- I like mascara with fat brushes but when I get samples that are on short wands like this, I end up getting mascara on my face. I’ll still enjoy this sample but at this point I have enough mascara samples to last me until I’m 65 so I won’t be repurchasing.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb ($9)- meh. I know this a cult favorite fragrance but I’m not a fan of floral scents. I’ll probably give this to my mother in law.
I paid $20 for this box and the value is around $75. I love getting to try fancy high end products that I’d never actually buy and I liked everything except the perfume. I’ll def be on the look out for their next high-end box!
