URBAN DECAY ‘NAKED HEAT’ PALETTE: REVIEW and SWATCHES

URBAN DECAY NAKED HEAT ($54)
After I did these swatches, I was feeling nostalgic and decided to pull out my other naked palettes. I have 1, 2 and 3, basics 1 and that square one that’s all matte. I bought Smoky when it was 50% off and still had to return it. It was that bad. I loved naked 3 when it first came out but I really didn’t care for any of the others. One interesting tidbit I noticed- the shelf life for heat is 24 months. 2 and 3 say 12 months and my OG naked palette has a meager 6 month shelf life. I got my first naked palette when it came out in 2010 (I think). So yeah. She’s slightly passed her prime.

Now that we strolled down memory lane, I’m pleased to announce that I love heat and IMO it’s by far the best in the series.

Like it’s predecessors, it has twelve- 1.3g shadows (7 mattes, 5 shimmers) and a double sided brush. I feel like UD has really stepped up their game. The formula is better and the packaging improves with every palette.

Okay let’s dissect these colors!

 Ounce (ivory shimmer)

Chaser (light nude matte)

Sauced (soft terra-cotta matte)

Low Blow (brown matte)
Lumbre (copper shimmer with gold pearl shift)

He Devil (burnt red matte)
Dirty Talk (metallic burnt red)

Scorched (deep red metallic with gold micro-shimmer)

Cayenne (deep terra-cotta matte)
En Fuego (burgundy matte)

Ashes (deep reddish-brown matte)
Ember (deep metallic copper-burgundy)

As far as the shadows go, there are two that I’m not in love with. Chaser, the light beige matte is yaaaawn! And Scorched. I take that back. I do love Scorched. The color is gorgina. But the formula isn’t consistent with the other shimmers. It’s a lot softer and mine got a little crumbly when I started manhandling it with my shader brush. I don’t know my own strength sometimes. Every other color in the palette gets a thumbs up from me. They do have a bit of kick up but the smooth application and intense color pay off more than make up for it.
That being said… do you need this palette? Eh. I dunno. It’s beautiful. The formula is lovely but they aren’t reinventing the wheel here. It’s an extremely dupeable palette.

NAKED HEAT
Maybe I’ll bang out a set of dupes quick so that you guys can get a better sense of the colors. Personally I can’t get enough of these warm tones and I love a smooth matte. I’m definitely happy to have it.
