MARC JACOBS DEW DROPS COCONUT GEL HIGHLIGHTER ($44)
I can’t sleep. Again. So let’s talk about this damn highlighter! I bought three liquid highlighters from SEPHORA the other day, this one from Marc Jacobs plus one of new COVERFX shades and one from UD as well as a PORE VANISHING STICK from Estee Edit. The MARC JACOBS is my favorite of the four.
It’s a lightweight, coconut-infused gel highlighter that can be applied to skin directly or added into foundation or primer. It features five forms of coconut to hydrate and nourish: -Coconut alkanes: Help with longer wear -Coconut milk: Deeply hydrates -Coconut water: Provides refreshing electrolytes -Coconut polysaccharides: Help condition -Coconut fragrance: Lightly scented
Super. Sounds good to me. I like how concentrated it is. For the swatches I started out with a little dot the size of a chocolate chip. In the pic below that, I started blending.
That’s how dramatic it would be if you applied it directly to your face. Then I continued to blend it out. That little dollop basically covered my entire forearm. But as you can see, in the bottom photo, it’s more of a subtle glow.
That’s how I prefer to use these types of products, mixing a little drop in with my primer or moisturizer for a subtle, all over luminosity. It’s a flattering golden champagne color and although it’s very glowy, it’s not over the top shimmery. I think it’s pretty reasonably priced for the brand, the packaging is beautiful and a little bit goes a very long way.
But to be honest I don’t think it’s all that different from the NYX or LOREAL TRUE MATCH LIQUID ILLUMINATORS. The packaging is definitely way better and I assume that it has higher quality ingredients but I think either one of those drugstore options would give you a similar look for a fraction of the price.
But nonetheless I really like this product and I would recommend it, if you’re wanting to treat yo’self!
Tomorrow I’ll add swatches of the two highlighters I mentioned earlier plus some potential indie dupes. But -spoiler alert- the COVERFX one is very nice and the URBAN DECAY one sucks. But more on that after I’ve slept for a few hours. I’m getting delirious.
[…] are more like illuminating primers. They come with a wand applicator (Angela already reviewed hers here) suggesting targeted application to the high points (as a highlighter) but the formula is […]

Looks gorgeous! Is it possible to dispense less than that at a time? Cuz if not I feel like I’d be wasting a lot of product!

Yeah definitely. You don’t have to do a full pump. Probably a third of what I used would be more practical. That little dollop legit covered my whole arm
