SEPTEMBER 2016 BOXYCHARM REVIEW

After August’s dismal box, I thought that I had cancelled BOXYCHARM but apparently I did something wrong because it showed up again this month. This time I emailed them to get confirmation that I unsubscribed so this will definitely be my last BOXYCHARM review. And thank goodness because this month’s box was awful (for me) too. Here’s what I got…

Project Beauty Hairgurt ($11)– this is a strawberry banana hair mask. I’m super picky about hair stuff and I know I’m not going to use it. And I haven’t even smelled it because I don’t want to remove the seal so that I’m able to give it away.

Butter London Nail Lacquer in YUMMY YUMMY ($15)– I like this brand but the taupe color is kinda… yawn… It’s alright. I’ll use it. I’m just not all that excited about it.

PUR Cosmetics Lip Lure in GRACEFUL  ($22)– this is a hydrating, high shine liquid lipstick in a neutral color. I like the color and the formula but I hate the applicator. It’s a pain in the ass to be sanitary with the ‘shower head’ style applicator.

Hikari Cosmetics Eye Liner in black ($13)– Another black eyeliner. It’s a mechanical pencil which I like but I’ve got enough black pencil liners to last 100 years.

Studio Makeup ‘On-The-Go’ Palette ($49.95)– this palette in a nut shell is my problem with BOXYCHARM. Every month they include at least one obscenely over-priced item from a brand that I’ve never heard of. I have a hard time believing that this palette with it’s inexpensive cardboard packaging and no mirror is worth $50. For $50 you can get a Chocolate Bar Palette. The naked palettes are only $4 more. For an extra $9, you could get the Lorac Mega Pro! To be fair, it is a pretty palette. There’s 5 mattes and 4 shimmers in nice neutral colors. I haven’t actually used the palette because I have these colors a million times over and I want to be able to give this away. So maybe they’re the greatest eyeshadows ever. But in my opinion, if a little known brand is going to charge high end prices, they should at least come correct with the damn packaging.

And that rant ends my final BOXYCHARM review! BOXYCHARM is $21 and the retail value is $110. I’ll probably use the nail polish a few times. Same with the lippie. I may or may not use the eyeliner, probably not. I definitely won’t use hair mask or the palette. But at least the eyeshadow palette will make a nice Christmas gift for someone. So yeah… this one was another bust for me. Last subscription box for the month will be ALLURE and I’ll also be reviewing the POPSUGAR SPECIAL EDITION FALL BOX later this week!
